Our Approach

At the Ottawa Psychological Health Centre, we offer comprehensive psychological services for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. The Psychologists employ a warm and collaborative approach while delivering treatments supported by the most current research. The therapeutic focus of the Ottawa Psychological Health Centre is primarily Cognitive Behavioural, along with new advances drawn from Mindfulness and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Our goal is to help clients to fully understand the meaning and causes of psychological symptoms, and how Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps symptoms improve. The clinic provides programs that treat psychological disorders, promotes long term psychological health, as well as offering youth and students resiliency skills to prevent the development of stress related disorders.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is the most widely researched form of psychotherapy and has been shown to be highly effective for the mental health conditions treated at the Ottawa Psychological Health Centre. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a relatively new form of Cognitive Therapy shown to be helpful for borderline personality disorder (BPD), or BPD traits, and a variety of other emotion regulation difficulties. Our practitioners draw from DBT to infuse distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal skills and mindfulness applications into ongoing therapy in order to maximize treatment outcomes.
